We had a little snack break in the big open field with the picnic table for my nephew. We all had a great time walking through here. I wished I booked longer as my pup was having a blast. Pinewood Trail was amazing! My dog and my sister’s dog ran around without a care in the world! The trails are marked and well maintained. This was a return visit and we had a great time again! This is an excellent spot for reactive dogs and their guardians - we’ve been twice and have seen no sign of humans or dogs on either visit. Feels safe and isolated. We took our snowshoes today, which we were very happy about as the snow is quite deep in some areas. Four paws up, highly recommend.

As described, the area is not entirely fenced, so keep that in mind if your pup is prone to taking off (though I think they’d have to go a ways before encountering any trouble - it was just us and the trees as far as we could see. For us, it was perfect and we’ll definitely be back.

Pinewood Trails is a beautiful spot for a nature walk with your best canine friends. The trail is well-cleared and is wide enough for multiple people and dogs. It takes you through a mature forest to a lovely scenic lookout of the Cavan Hills. I would highly recommend it as a Sniffspot to explore and enjoy.

Frequently asked questions about Cavan dog park
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
Are dog parks safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks much safer than public dog parks. With Sniffspot all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 0% of reviews on Sniffspot visits in the Cavan area are 5 stars.
How do I know if a dog park works for my dog?
You can filter Sniffspot dog parks by fencing and distractions. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog parks in the area. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our off leash areas where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. You can also filter locations to avoid other domestic animals and people. We also recommend reading reviews and reaching out to the host with any questions.
