55We've been coming about every other weekend for a while now. Can't say enough nice about this spot. The amount of work that goes into taking care of these trails and amenities is very obvious. Honestly the ideal sniff spot and well worth the trip across the bridge. Simon C.

55This spot was awesome. I loved letting my dogs practice their off leash walking/ recall with peace of mind knowing that no one else would be there!! Plenty of water and really appreciated the bug spray too. That was a nice touch. Overall great experience and no issues what so ever. Will be back!Alexa D.

55PEOPLE PLEASE!!!!!!!! This is a 5 star sniff spot without a doubt - however, on my walk this morning with my 4 dogs I picked up 5 BIG piles of dog poop that did not belong to my dogs!!!! I am not paying and going to enjoy this spot to pick up your dogs poop… these piles were ON the trail, so we risk stepping in it as well. Paul is kind enough to share his land with us, if we all looked the other way and didn’t pay attention to our dogs pooping the land will soon be knee high in crap- we will face having this beautiful place taken from us… Paul is kind enough to supply poop bags, large garbage cans and hand wipes.. what more could you ask for? I know it can happen that your dog might poop and you didn’t see them, although I don’t understand how, if you see a pile please pick it up. 2 very large piles were close to the chairs, water station and garbage can area so I really don’t know how they could be missed. If you feel why should you pick up someone else’s dogs poop, think again and do it- so we can all continue to have this wonderful spot available to us. Watch your dogs and pick up after your own so no one else has to! Not a relaxing walk for me today because others were so careless. Add to that - what the heck are you feeding your dogs?! What comes out is a clear indication of how food is being processed and more importantly nutrients absorbed! Im done with my rant and hope next weeks walk will be better. Susan C.

55We had the best time! Our girls were so excited to run around all the trails sniffing at everything - we didn't even need the balls to play fetch! And Paul was very understanding when we let him know that we hit traffic and would be a bit late.
All the trails were clean and there were water stations set up around the property, which we definitely needed.
My advice, wear shoes instead of sandals if you're walking the trails with your dogs, let the taller person walk in front for spiderwebs, and maybe bring some bug spray in the summer, it's nice and shaded so the bugs like to hang out with you.
The dogs were wiped out after this adventure, we will definitely be going back!Ann L.

55The woods are amazing! Great way to safely hike off leash with your pups. Area was very clean with great amenities. Multiple locations with water, poop bags and bug spray for us! Definitely a great option to keep paws safe on hot days as there is plenty of shade and ground cover. We will be back for sure!Amanda B.

55Spot was easy to find, and super private which was great since our dogs can be picky about strangers. Tons of trails and things for the dogs to sniff, run around, and burn the energy. Extremely clean, water at various different locations, just an overall great place. We'll definitely return!Keri H.

55The side bordering vacant land is a little scary if your dogs aren’t the fastest at coming back when you call them- we are working on it, but a few minutes of breath holding when they raced off the trail- sorry-our fault. Other than that, easy to find, good trail maps, and dogs were full on panting by the time the hour was up. Cartney J.

55This is a fantastic place to take your doggies! It was secluded enough to give a sense of really being "out in the woods." The trails are well maintained, with several "secret" picnic tables and we saw 2 fire pits with logs next to them. Not sure if those are for guests that visit, but it definitely has a great campground feel to it. The maps at the entrance were very helpful. We only did half the trails today. I highly recommend wearing good walking shoes. Some trails are very narrow and hilly. Others are wide and flat. I found a stick I used as a walking stick and left it at the green chairs. There are watering stations and poop bags throughout the trails with several garbage cans, along with various seating options if you need to take a rest. It is a very clean and well maintained property and the trail names are hilarious. This was the first time we went and our dogs LOVED being off leash and running around. Thank you so much for having this available. We will be visiting again soon.Kathy R.

554 dogs on a misty windy day - LOVE it! Planned ahead for muddy feet, enjoyed just as much as last time if not more. What a fantastic way to clear your head heart and soul. Thank you Paul Susan C.

55Great spot! We played fetch with our dogs for a while then explored all of the trails. They had some fire pits, trash cans, poop bags, and water at multiple areas.
Definitely come prepared with the right footwear if it’s rainy out! Our dogs loved this spot and we will be back again! Kelsey M.

55Well maintained trails loop throughout the property, owners provided several trash cans and seating areas throughout, as well as water bowls. Our dog had a nice time here. Even though it's woodsy, there's space on the trails for some fetch. Simon C.

55We enjoyed walking around on the trails. The only area that could pose as a problem is the area with the horse fencing. But it did look as though they were working on securing that fence lone better. Dani K.

55Dogs had a great time and there was enough space to tucker them out. Location was easy to find and was grateful for the clear parking signs. our dogs have good recall so we felt pretty secure the whole time, but would not suggest this site to any one with escape artist dogs because they can easily get out in some spots. All in all it was worth the trip and much safer than a dog park. Highly recommend! Sadie S.

55Paul’s spot is amazing. He’s done sooo much work and is a true steward of the land. I visited both Paul and his spot today. What a gracious host, and I even got cookies! This is a spot that you need to visit several times to get the full appreciation of the work he’s done. Definitely book out more than an hour, and bring a picnic to enjoy at the two areas outfitted with picnic tables and fire pits. I booked 2, and could have used 2 more! I’ve got a SniffSpot of my own, but Paul’s place is more “wild” in a GOOD way, which is absolutely perfect for dogs to get the zoomies out. Mary Ann P.

FAQ about our Federal Way dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
How do I know if a dog hiking trail works for my dog?
Sniffspot provides the tools to find the ideal spot. Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing 6 feet tall and distractions, to find a dog park with trails that works for your dog. You can also filter by size if you are looking for a certain acre park, an expansive off-leash dog park. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog hiking trails. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog hiking trails where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog hiking trail?
In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
