55A little out of the way, but it's now definitely one of my favorite spots. I was able to hike down the little trail with my dog off-leash, which would have caused anxiety and worry of running into other dogs and people if it was anywhere else than this reserved spot. The forest is so stimulating with all the smells, and there are areas for your dog to swim around. Bring a towel!
There is a large deck and 2 chair near the river next to a fireplace with some logs in it. There is also a lighter if you don't have one.
The spot is far enough downhill from the road but you can hear the cars from the road/bridge when you walk downstream. However, there aren't many cars that pass and it's barely noticeable. There are also a lot of rocks when you walk downstream, so bring the appropriate footwear.
It is not fenced, but not a worry for my dog who doesn't run more than a few feet away from me and it's at the bottom of the hills, so easy for your dog to stay within the area. If your dog is prone to running away, despite the incline, you may need to put a tracker on your dog so you wont lose him if he runs into the forest.
My dog and I had such a great time. I would be going so much if it wasn't so far off the road, but it was worth the drive. The directions were very helpful in finding the location. Charity K.

55This was our first Sniffspot and I must say we were blown away! It was the perfect quick getaway for my girls and they loved every second of it. It was very private and peaceful. I would definitely recommend this Sniffspot.Angelica N.

55We had so much fun at this spot! I was initially worried about letting our dogs off-leash. While they know the recall command, they sometimes get too excited to listen in high-stimulation environments. But the calm and peaceful setting there worked well, and the 20-ft leash we brought wasn’t necessary. Also, Tammy was helpful and provided useful tips.
The dogs loved the cold water, tried a bit of swimming, and did lots of sniffing around. The spot was clean and cozy, making it a pleasant experience for all of us.
Just a note—there’s no garbage disposal, so be prepared to take your dog’s waste back with you. Also, from the parking area to the spot, there’s a steep dirt slope that was a bit slippery. If I had to manage two leashed dogs in both hands, it might have been a bit tough.
Overall, it was a 1-hour drive well worth the experience. We had a good time and might come back again!Holly Y.

55Parking spot was not hard to find based on information provided. The walk down can be a bit steep for some, really appreciated the rail! Will point out that the we came from the East bay and the drive after the freeway was very winding, which is not great for someone with motion sickness 😅. Definitely agree on bringing extra shoes or even water shoes! Overall a great spot, would even recommend to people who want to get their dog accustomed to being in the water, which is why I brought my dog here. Maria A.

55Great spot, lovely area even. Recommend to wear walking or water shoes but flip flops are tough to navigate the trail with. On the way in you're going downhill. Lots of smells, grass to eat, and creeks to splash in. Our husky mix loved running back and forth across the creek! Cortney D.

55Best spot for shy dogs to explore the nature! Very private and my dog enjoyed swimming the the creek. The little trail going down from the highway is steep so make sure you wear hiking shoes not flip flops.
My dog had lot of fun running around and the humans got to grill some marshmallows on the fire pit. We will be back :-)Qi H.

55This spot was great. My dog had a blast! Very clear directions on how to find the spot. Not too far from Alice’s restaurant (dog friendly) so a nice bonus. The trail down is short but a bit challenging in one spot. However, the host put in a nice handrail to help. When you get to that, this might be a good spot to let your dog run the rest of the way down off Ieash or long lead. Definitely doable though! The spot was clean, as described, lovely! Plenty of space to let my dog swim, sniff, and run (so excited he got a case of the Zoomies 😆 and just ran in circles for a bit). I walked up and down the creek with my dog while he explored (use waterproof hikers or water shoes due to rocks in creek). Felt like it was plenty of space for us. He would try to run up the canyon walls at times, but he’s a husky (they are born wanderers) and they were high enough that I could call him back and he’d come running right back down so I never felt unsafe about it. Remember though, this is like a hike, not a dog park, you or someone in your group needs to keep an eye on them. Overall this place was a fantastic break for us from the city. I can’t recommend it enough! Theresa C.

55Very relaxing spot, it was easy to find with all the markers. Like the description says wear proper shoes to go down the hill. Once I was down there I switched to my crocs to dip my feet in the water. Our dog loved walking around and sniffing all the smells. Overall a great experience! Maggie F.

55We were so impressed with the beauty and tranquility of this amazing place! I kept saying Wow to myself as we were roaming around. The hike down was on the steeper side but if you are careful and have good shoes, it shouldn’t be a problem. The wooden banister was a nice touch to help us feel stable walking down. It is a woodsy area with trees and paths and a peaceful creek. I felt like we were on a mini camping trip! It is very clean, no sign of dog poop anywhere. There was a small pile of bagged-up doggie waste and that’s where we put ours. There is a deck with chairs for hanging out. Our dogs loved it and were absolutely busy exploring every inch, rolling around, running, and playing. So much to sniff - there were a lot of different types of foliage to engross them. They found different types of terrain to play on and also found some tennis balls there to chase. Would 100% come back. Even though this was for the dogs, speaking as a human, it is the perfect escape from the insanity of everyday life. Elaine H.

55Beautiful spot. Very tranquil and quiet. Nice that there are chairs to sit down also. The creek was flowing and my dog loved splashing around. The trail down to the creek is quite steep, but there is a railing for part of it. Would not recommend for somebody who has mobility issues. Might be worth bringing a stick or hiking pole if you are concerned about it. Next time I’ll bring my waterproof shoes to wade in the creek a bit with my dog. Meera P.

FAQ about our Redwood City dog parks
Are dog parks good for dogs?
It is important for dogs to have off leash exercise to sniff and run. But the free and open nature of public dog parks has drawbacks. There could be aggressive dogs, disease transmission and cleanliness issues. For this reason, many dog behaviorists discourage visiting public dog parks and recommend Sniffspot's private dog parks. Sniffspot private dog parks only allow one guest to book at a time and are not open to the public, which solves many of these issues.
