55The rain had finally taken a break, and we couldn’t resist getting out to play. I took my 4 dogs and they had a blast. The host was wonderful. The space was great, with a stream and a pond alongside grassy areas. With the rain we’ve been having, it was muddy in places but the dogs didn’t mind one bit. They came home muddy and tired. I hope to revisit this place again soon. Ailynn C.

55This is a large area with lots of wide open spaces. Nice mowed paths and fun, uneven terrain for lots of good exercise. Wide open spaces for running and playing fetch too. Owner has dogs that were kept inside while we were there. Owner also has a dog daycare on property and a couple of clients came while I was there, but there is enough space that no dog interactions occurred. I appreciated that owner met with me when I arrived to give me an introduction to the area. Property is located off of a busy road, but extends out the back, away from the road. My dog smiled the whole time we were there!Carolyn W.

55This property is lovely! Stephanie was very quick to respond and has a great space for dogs who love to run and explore. Our 15 lb dogs had a blast jumping like bunnies through the tall grass, and sprinting through the mowed paths. An hour is sufficient to explore all of the mowed areas (there's lots of wide paths and a few open areas with camp chairs to let your dog play with a ball or other toys), but book more time if you want to be able to fetch, go a little rogue, or let your dog explore on their own.Kristina M.

55This was our first time at this Sniffspot. Stephanie prefers to meet first-time people and dogs, and she thoroughly explained the property, which is big and goes far back beyond the house. She has dogs, but had them in the house and we never heard them.
About 1/3 of property, right behind the house, is mowed. She mows winding 5'-wide paths around the back 2/3 of the property, so you can meander in different directions, eat grass, sniff around, etc. There is a pond and a creek running through the property. There is road noise from the traffic on Avondale Rd., but it gets more muffled the farther back you go.
Maizie was leashed the entire time on a 15' line. She enjoyed eating grass, rolling around on the ground, and checking out the various paths through the tall grass. On the way back to the car, she took a shortcut, walking into/through part of the pond.
Some reviewers stated they were near horses on the trail, but that is far beyond her property line, which is clearly delineated by fence line. One can venture to the horse trail if the dog has good recall or is on a leash. We did not go beyond the property line.
This spot was easy to get to from Ballard - about 40 minutes.Lisa K.

55I love taking my dog, Tahiti, here. It’s a beautiful setting with plenty of room for her to run and play. She is shy at a new place but the more we visit the more confident she gets. She’s on a 30 ft lead. She’s been venturing into the grass and running ahead of me more often with each visit. Every time we pull up in the driveway Tahiti jumps into my lap with excitement. The owner Stephanie is very nice. We met her on our first visit. She briefly explained the property with giving enough space to my dog that Tahiti felt comfortable and didn’t even bark or growl. We will continue to go back and we are so grateful to Stephanie for sharing this beautiful property with us.Brandi C.

55This property is a dog’s perfect adventure spot! It was so much space and things to explore, like a creek, a pond and lots of area in the pastures. It was right off a main road so it was easy to get to, but not so close to the road that it was dangerous.
It’s definitely important that you keep your dog on leash if they do not have strong recall, or a strong prey drive. It’s only partially fenced, with some neighboring pastures (in the distance) that had animals in them.
There were tons of jolly balls and tennis balls to play with and it was well maintained on the main pathsMeredith S.

55Dogs had a great time, different areas to investigate, flat areas to play. Love having an area like this close to home. The ground was a bit soggy in areas so bring your boots and expect muddy dogs. My Great Dane got tangled in some sticker bushes, so keep an eye out if your have a giant clumsy dog. Susan G.

55Oliver (and his people!) had such a fantastic time at this sniffspot. There were mowed spaces for chasing the ball, tall grassy areas for exploring, and lots of trails to enjoy! People might want to wear boots as it’s a bit wet/muddy right now, but all in all- a great space to sniff!Lisa Z.

55Had a wonderful time at this first visit to this Sniffspot.
Plenty of room to run! No other dogs anywhere within site, which was important since one of my dogs does not get along with other dogs. My dogs especially liked playing around the creek. They dunked their balls in the water and chased them around. They also filled their bellies with grass. We say bald eagle feeding their babies in a nest while we were exploring.

55We had a lovely romp, with no dogs or people in site. Easy to find, welcoming host. My dog found a large jolly ball when we arrived and had a wonderful time. Very relaxing and fun with a dog with a good recall. Some uneven ground and mud, just what I would expect for rural fields. Located set back from a busy road, so leashes would be indicated if you have a dog who might take off. Kate S.

55Stephanie met us at the drive to acquaint us with her Sniffspot. She warned us about the muddy spots on the trails, which were easily negotiated. It was wonderful go get out with the dogs and roam around. Very pleasant fields. We're planning to go back!Kathy W.

55Our visit to this location will be the first of many. Stephanie greeted us right on time, took a few minutes to meet our dog and give us an overview of the property. After that, 60 minutes of fun for our dog and human relaxation for us. The property is beautiful, plenty of room to run or just relax. At our exit, Stephanie checked in our experience that day & asked for any feedback to improve our next visit. Everything was perfect, we wouldn't change a thing.

55Oh my dog(s)! This spot is AMAZING! It has everything a dog could ever want. Water for water dogs, tall grass for critter sniffers, and mowed walking paths and open field for ball chase. My 11 yo dog is not in the best health, and she even ran and played and became a puppy again! Meanwhile, my wild poode got all his yayas out jumping through the taller grass and chasing his ball. Very fun place to explore. I wore waterproof boots as some parts of the path are marsh-like conditions if you want to explore, but if you wear normal shoes, there is a deck and mowed grassy area with a deck and dry. Easy to get to as well. Lindy L.

55What a wonderful Sniffspot!! We had a grand time - just what my cooped up city dogs needed. Tons of open space, country fencing (won't keep the escape artists in but worked well for mine), a pond, a creek, and more open space. Highly recommend and can't wait to return!! Lori M.

55Our first Sniffspot and definitely a winner! Stephanie greeted us on arrival and gave us a lay of the land, which is varied and so much fun. Part of the area is wetlands so boots are highly recommended. Bring towels if your dog is a swimmer. A clean bowl and fresh water were provided. Our next trip is already booked!Deborah P.

FAQ about our Kirkland dog hiking trails
Are dog hiking trails safe?
While public dog parks have a number of safety issues, such as aggressive dogs, inattentive owners, disease transmission and general cleanliness, Sniffspot dog parks are much safer than a city or county park. With a Sniffspot off-leash area all bookings are private for just you and dogs you bring with you and we require all dogs to be vaccinated (or have equivalent titers). All Sniffspot locations are vetted and reviewed by guests so you can find the perfect place for you and your dog. 93% of reviews on Sniffspot visits are 5 stars. Our hiking trails tend to be outside the city, which lends to more privacy, but it is also important to follow typical hiking safety precautions, such as potentially having trail maps.
How do I know if a dog hiking trail works for my dog?
Sniffspot provides the tools to find the ideal spot. Start by applying basic filters, such as fencing 6 feet tall and distractions, to find a dog park with trails that works for your dog. You can also filter by size if you are looking for a certain acre park, an expansive off-leash dog park. If your dog doesn't have good recall, you can visit one of our fully fenced dog hiking trails. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, you can visit one of our dog hiking trails where there are no dogs audible or visible nearby. Since you are looking for trails, make sure to check photos to see if it the spot has flat trails or gnarly trails. You can also browse by specific amenities, if you are looking for a view or a beach, for instance, or other activities or fun features. You can check whether the spot has off or on street parking, the regular park hours, whether it has paved trails or a modern restroom.
What are the requirements to bring my dog to a Sniffspot dog hiking trail?
In order to hike the trails, we require that all dogs have basic vaccinations or equivalent titers. We do not permit dogs with a bite history. We require that guests sign our waiver and agree to follow our safety rules.
Will there be other dogs at the Sniffspot hiking trail at the same time as me?
Sniffspot only allows one booking at a time and any host dogs are required to be kept away from the spot during visits. We also enforce 30 min time buffers between bookings.
How much do Sniffspot hiking trails cost?
Dog hiking trails in the Kirkland area range from $4.0 and $4.0. The least expensive dog hiking trail is Finn Hill hood. The most expensive dog hiking trail is Finn Hill hood. Each host sets their own price, so you can check the price on the specific Sniffspot dog park listing.
